The pictorial compositions of Muntean/Rosenblum always move between staging and reality. Their protagonists traverse pathos-laden scenes that evoke nostalgia and question the present. Since the beginning of their collaboration Markus Muntean and Adi Rosenblum combined the medium of painting with expansive installations and performances. Now the artist duo is taking the next step: their iconic figures leave the canvas and enter into the room. For the first time, they are presenting life-size sculptures - paintings that detach from the wall and become three-dimensional. This further development opens up new possibilities; the familiar motifs become tangible and alive. It becomes clear just how much there art breaks boundaries: divergent elements are skilfully combined, figures are created from different models and poses. They appear both familiar as well as distant. Painting remains the core, but is given a new stage. After their solo exhibition at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt in 2024, they will now intensify this dialogue with new sculptural works in Waldkirchen.
