Saitenwexl as guest at the Engelwirt
Two men, two guitars, Leonie Höchbauer & Kichererbsencurry
“Saitenwexl” – the guitar duo of Michael Prokisch and Martin Höchbauer – have been playing together since 2016. Both bring many years of experience from a wide variety of musical contexts: from classical to jazz, rock, and folk.
Precise craftsmanship meets enthusiasm and openness.
Stylistically, “Saitenwexl” defies any clear categorization: from Gitarrissimo (Horton/Schwab) to Astor Piazzolla, from Kolbe/Illenberger to Beatles evergreens and Michael Jackson, from Pat Metheny to old Irish tunes. Even contemporary guitar virtuosos such as Andy McKee and Don Ross can be found in the repertoire.
In addition to arrangements by renowned composers, the band also creates its own arrangements.
They pluck nylon and steel strings to bring out the full tonal range of the guitar: warm, clear, rhythmic, delicate. Despite all the virtuosity, one thing remains the focus: an entertaining evening. Sophisticated, but never difficult. Concentrated, but with humor. Music that leaves room – and creates closeness.
The two musicians are bringing in reinforcements for the concert in Berching: Leonie Höchbauer's expressive voice provides a counterpoint to the instrumental pieces. So there is not only plucking, but also singing – and occasionally a hand reaches for the piano keys.
An evening of strings, vocals, and atmosphere.
